Michele Renée Ledoux, is best known for using fire + wax to create black and white, abstract contemporary paintings using the ancient technique of encaustic, most known for its vibrant colors. The work has a heavy sculptural aspect, features uneven surfaces, cuts, cracks and chips; and often incorporates recycled material.

Her creative process is contemplative and reflects her commitment to authenticity and presence.

Influenced by Abstract Expressionism, Minimalism and Arte Povera, the work is primarily neutral in palette, architectural in style and organic in process and texture.

Her work is held in numerous private collections and has been widely exhibited nationally and internationally, garnering multiple “Best of Show” awards.
